This unique experience will have you snorkeling in the Indian Ocean, enjoying the beachfront views, while experiencing the African wildlife surroundings of an Elephant Preserve, just a short drive from the bungalows and villas. Not only will you enjoy a relaxing tour, you will also be involved in helping the local community by participating in the local Children's Day on June 1st, Vida Nova Travel has partnered with Mission Machangulo to help the local community by giving 10 percent of the proceeds to benefit the Mozambique children by helping feed the community, providing school supplies and vital needs to there education such as electicity in there classroom. This tour will be like no other, experiencing all that East Africa has to offer, while being a light in the local community.

This Children's Day tour will take you though the beauty of Mozambique, arriving in the capital city of Maputo with the vibrance and energy of Africa. Enjoy a night of relaxation, you will be staying at the 5-Star resort the Southern Sun. Relax at this luxury hotel till the next day when you will travel to Machagulo Reserve by boat. Enjoy taking in the surroundings on the water while traveling out to the Reserve. Spending your days helping the community, relaxing on the beach while whale watching, snorkeling, biking riding and so much more. Finally, at the end of your trip experience the Elephants, spending the day in the park will allow Africa to Transform you.
A trip to Africa would not be complete without a Safari. Don't forget to take a look at our sister property the Vida Nova Kruger add on. Experience the "Big 5" on Safari which includeds the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo. All while enjoying our boutique lodge with great food and relaxing spa.
Itinerary
DAY 1
May 29th: Arrive in Maputo, Mozambique. You will be greeted at the airport and carried to the Southern Sun Hotel.
Day 2
May 30th: Depart Southern Sun, and travel by boat to Santa Maria on the Machangulo Peninsula, where lunch will be arranged at Bemugi’s restaurant, where excellent light food will be served, and the local specialty drink, the CAIPIRINHA will be available in addition to beer and other drinks. You will then be carried to your rooms, and have a free afternoon to explore our exclusive semi-private 15 mile beach. Dinner will be served at our own Monarch Villa, which was built by the King of the Netherlands as his family vacation retreat.
Day 3
May 31st: Breakfast will be provided at your assigned Villa, followed by a free day to enjoy our exclusive 15-mile semi-private beach. Fishing, diving, and other activities can be arranged at individual expense, subject to availability. All are invited to help serve the local mozambican community and prepare for children's day.
Day 4
June 1st is Children's Day, Party with the local community. You will be guests of honor at a party to which the entire local community is invited. Breakfast will be served at your assigned Villa. At noon you will be transported to the community party in Santa Maria, at which you will be able to take pride in having participated in providing a nourishing meal for everyone who comes to the party, including many who are struggling to obtain adequate nourishment, including the community’s children and underemployed. Local dancers and musicians will provide entertainment. Shaded seating will be provided for our guests, along with tapas food, and cold drinks. A bonfire will be lit at dark, and later you will be transported back to your assigned villa.
Day 5
June 2nd: An outing to nearby Inhaca Island by Dhow (a local sailing vessel) will leave after breakfast at your assigned villa. You will debark at Inhaca village where you can explore and visit local landmarks, and enjoy an excellent lunch at LUCA’S, the village’s best restaurant. After lunch, you will be transported by Dhow back to Santa Maria, where you can enjoy a Caipirinha at Bemugi’s before being transported back to your assigned villa. Dinner will be served at the Monarch Villa.
Day 6
June 3rd: Beach Party Day! After breakfast, you will be transported to Santa Maria, where Bemugi’s will provide boat transportation and a bespoke picnic with recreational craft and beach recreation for a beach party at Inhaca Island’s Maputo Bay Park. The fun will be had by all, with a light meal provided after your return to your assigned Villa.
Day 7
June 4th: Maputo Elephant Park Day! After an early breakfast, guests and their luggage will be picked up at their assigned villas. You will then be taken on a game drive through the Maputo Elephant Park, which separates Machangulo from the main road to Maputo. This beautiful coastal dune environment is home to many African animal species including a population of the unique coastal elephant, which is darker in color and smaller than the standard elephant found in the interior. A champagne picnic lunch will be served in the park, and in the afternoon you will be driven from the park to the Southern Sun Hotel to spend your final night of your African experience.
Day 8
June 5th: Transportation from the Southern Sun Hotel to Maputo International airport will be arranged for your flight back to the United States or to your add-on a Safari at Vida Nova Kruger. PLEASE ASK US HOW
