Klaarstroom

Klaarstroom is one of the few remaining authentic Karoo villages in South Africa. On famous route 62, Klaarstroom was historically the center of small, Victoria working farm villages. One functioning as a pit-stop for farmers in route to Mossel Bay, the peaceful village is the now the perfect retreat to relax, unwind, and surround yourself in nature.

About Destination

Meiringspoort is an idyllic gorge through the Swartberg Mountain range linking the Groot and Klein Karoos and is worth a visit. Rest sites throughout the gorge provide information boards offering insight into the animals, birds, and plant life here. Whether you choose to bike, hike, or just take in the views you will not be disappointed.

Prince Albert just 60 km east of Klaarstroom, offers a Saturday morning farmers market that allows you to experience all the local goods and treats the region has to offer. You can stock up on Karoo lamb and enjoy an early morning cup of coffee, whilst the town’s annual Olive Festival, which usually takes place in April/May, is a tradition worth experiencing.

This Karoo region has all the nature and charm with its Victorian architecture built in 1880.
